This cover leave one entire side of my D800 exposed (the large memory card door). The part that slides into the hot shoe also comes out whenever one flips the flash up or even touches it there.
That being said:
These camera covers seem to be robust enough & designed to allow easy identification &operation of all the controls of the camera, including the buttons that they cover, while protecting the body from usage wear & tear & even possibly, depending on how the camera is accidentally dropped, protection from cosmetic damage.
Criticisms & suggestions:
It would be nice if these covers were made of a material, like high quality silicone that possibly would provide a grippy quality to the camera so that they don't they move around and fit the camera tight and well around the front around the lens mount .
also, with the bottom cover not installed because I have a battery grip installed, my D800 Stseetop cover moves around a bit on the camera and sometimes partially cover buttons and levers it isn't supposed to cover, which brings me to my suggestion that the manufacturer redesign these covers to include coverage over the battery grips as well as the camera body via two products, one for just the camera and another for the camera and grip, or one perhaps 3 piece convertible product.
#2 more fasteners on the long sides of the bottom piece.
#3 because the bottom of the cover is rather difficult to install and uninstall, either access to the camera
battery on the bottom without taking the bottom of the cover off, or a bottom cover that's much
easier to remove (yet just a secure when installed) and reinstall.
